My Brothers First Bike
My First Bike

He beat me as to when he got his first bike, but I win with the best first bike!

I remember when I was about 7 my dad bought my brother his first motorcycle. I was so disappointed because I didn’t get one! I asked my dad where my bike was and he said to me, girls don’t ride motorcycles, all I thought was why not? I did not understand that because I thought if he can ride one so can I.  My dad didn’t give in and it took 43 years to see that dream finally come true. Thanks to my wonderful sister-in-law who sees more in me than I have had anyone see.  On my 47th birthday she asked me what I wanted for my birthday I told her a motorcycle. I thought she would send me a toy bike with a funny card, but on my birthday she tells me she is sending me a Harley! What?? I was only joking about that but she wasn’t!  By far the best gift of any kind in my whole life!! To clarify My brother (in the picture to the left on his first bike) and sister-in-law live in New Mexico and I live in Alabama.  I was like a kid waiting on Christmas for my bike to arrive.  When it came and they dropped it off  I, with very little riding experience, got on my bike and took off.  Shaking so hard with fear and excitement I rode my beautiful Harley Sportster.  What a feeling of freedom the love of the motorcycle I had wanted for so many years finally came and any fear I had of such a machine had no effect on me learning by myself to ride.  In that time I have had so many women stop and tell me how cool it was that I ride and how they have also wanted to ride but never got the chance which is why I’m doing this blog. I want to inspire women to fulfill their dream of riding and also. Women who have never ridden, women who used to ride, and women who currently ride. I want to be a part of a sisterhood of women with the love of the freedom of riding and helping each other in any way.
